Pray with Part One.FutureChurch welcomed Father Anne in December for an evening of reflection to explore some of the principles in Part One of The Shepherd Within. You can participate in the reflection with the materials below.
This experience is structured into three movements, each consisting of a brief presentation followed by time for personal reflection and prayer. Follow along with the audio file. Pause the recording each time the invitation to silence and points for prayer are given. Use the prayer guide below for each corresponding movement and pray for at least ten minutes after each presentation. Feel free to pray as long as like. Note: The recording was slightly edited for listening outside of the original event.
Thank you to FutureChurch for hosting this event and for their continued work of excellence in the Catholic Church.

Make a retreat in everyday life.A retreat in everyday life is the commitment to pray contemplatively over a set period of time without the customary withdrawal from life of a typical retreat. While participants must take seriously the commitment to create enough space for prayer and reflection during the weeks of retreat, it is not necessary to take time off work, travel to a different location, or suspend life commitments to enter a journey of concentrated prayer and openness to God. A retreat in everyday life has one foot in retreat and one foot in worldly life and responsibilities.
The purpose of this retreat in everyday life is to carve out the opportunity to walk prayerfully with a small group of companions through the content and spiritual exercises of The Shepherd Within. It can be helpful to have companions in the spirit to accompany us in prayer, to help process our experiences of God, to witness God's action in our lives. This retreat in everyday life invites ongoing encounter with God in one’s personal prayer life, as well as facilitates a communal encounter as each member of the group shares the fruit of their prayer with others. The hope is that by the conclusion of the retreat, people have fruitful experiences of God and discern new invitations that God may be extending. Participants must make a serious commitment to reading the book and entering into daily prayer. MATERIALS FORTHCOMING |
